Die Band

In Deutschland kennt man sie von Oldenburg bis zum Bodensee.
Ob Rundfunk, Fernsehen, Langspielplatten, CD´s oder Konzerte, Bundesgartenschau bis zum Jazzkeller.
Die im Jahr 1959 gegründete Band gehört zu den erfolgreichsten und populärsten deutschen Oldtime-Jazzbands, mit einem Repertoire von Dixieland bis Swing reicht.

  Auf drei Tourneen durch die USA spielte die Band in New York, St.Louis, Little Rock, New Orleans, San Francisco sowie vielen weiteren Städten von der Ost- bis zur Westküste. Die Goldenen Stadtschlüssel von zahlreichen amerikanischen Städten zeugen vom Erfolg der "Ramblers". 

1974 wurden der Band sogar die Ehrenbürgerrechte von New Orleans verliehen. 1976 waren die Royal Garden Ramblers offizielle Vertreter der Stadt Stuttgart zu den 200-Jahrfeiern der USA. Den größten Konzerterfolg verbuchte die Band in St.Louis bei einem Open-Air-Konzert mit über 100000 Zuhörern.

Die Besetzungen haben natürlich in den fünf Jahrzehnten gewechselt. Ältere routinierte Musiker gaben talentierten jungen Musikern ihre Erfahrungen weiter, vergleichbar einem Familienbetrieb.

Der Musik des New Orleans, den Wurzeln des  Jazz und anderen Einflüssen der uramerikanischen Musik ist die Band jedoch bis heute treu geblieben, was zum Markenzeichen dieser Band wurde.

The Royal Garden Ramblers are well known in Germany between Oldenburg and Lake Constance, be it from radio, TV, the country-wide Federal Garden exhibitions, as well as jazz clubs, concerts, and recorded media.
The band was founded in 1959 and established itself as one of the most popular and successful traditional jazz bands in Germany, covering the gamut from Dixieland to Swing.

The Ramblers toured the US three times, performing in many cities of the East and West Coast, including New York , St. Louis , Little Rock , New Orleans and San Francisco. They’ve been presented with the “Keys to the City” many times during these tours, testifying their success and popularity with the American audiences.
In 1974 the Royal Garden Ramblers were awarded the honorary citizenship of New Orleans. In 1976, on the occasion of the bicentennial of the USA, the city of Stuttgart chose the band as their official representative for the various festivities and celebrations. The biggest event the Ramblers played was an open-air concert in St. Louis with an audience of more than 100,000.
Over the years the members of the band have changed, naturally. Older and experienced members passed their knowledge on to younger musicians, much like in a family. The band remained true to its roots, though, the music of New Orleans and the other influences of genuine American music. This sound became the Ramblers’ hallmark.
